 Jon
Thornton, Youth Pastor
Jon Thornton grew up in Sacramento, CA, where he graduated from
Sacramento Adventist Academy. A couple years after graduating from
high school Jon spent a year as a Student Missionary in
Chuuk, Micronesia, where he taught history and religion to high school
students. "I found a good path while in Chuuk. I came to see the
incredible relevancy of the gospel in the lives of teenagers." Upon his return he enrolled at Pacific Union College and graduated in 2004 with a religion degree.
After completing studies for a Masters of Divinity from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, Jon is excited to be back at PUC working with junior high and high school ministries. "I look forward to contributing to the dreams of this church community. I feel honored to be a part of something this special."
Jon married Deborah (Gorbenko) Thornton who is also a PUC graduate with a degree in public relations and journalism. She currently serves as Alumni and
Donor Relations Officer for PUC's Alumni and Advancement office. Jon and Debbi
are ecstatic to be home in California.
