Matthew 6:33 "Seek first the kingdom of god and his righteousness,
and all these things shall be added unto you" I remember as a young boy taking a vacation in Canada with my parents.
We had stopped at a rest area for lunch. There was a hill behind the rest
area that was only a couple of hundred feet high. It was also the highest
point I could see and I just knew that if I could climb that "hill"
I would be on top of the world and be able to see for miles. I remember my dad and I taking off to climb that "hill". About
45 minutes later (it was harder to climb then it looked) we reached the
top. I know that when I pulled myself up to the peak and sat on the rock
I'd be on top of the world. You can image my disappointment when I reached the top just to find out
there was another "peak" higher yet. As I looked around I noticed
peak after peak and not one of them put me "on top of the world". I've found in my life, as a type "A" personality that I'm always
"searching" for new peaks in life; better ways to do things
and more challenges to concur. If I don't follow the text and put "seeking
the kingdom" first I find myself looking back at the end of the day
realizing the I've not really reached any peaks that day. It is only by
starting each day with Jesus Christ that we can truly feel a sense of
fulfillment at the end of each day. David Shantz, KNDL Director
