I was shopping in a Jewish bookstore in Berkeley and happened to ask the clerk for a local restaurant recommendation. He wondered if dining kosher was a concern. I thought about it (I'd never eaten at a kosher restaurant before) and decided that it would be a great experience. He gave me directions for a place just a few blocks away. I reached the restaurant, sat down and started to peruse the menu searching for the drink section. You know how the wait staff always wants to take your drink order first. Two drink options caught my eye. The first was mint lemonade and the second was Turkish coffee. I had never tried either of these drinks. So I asked the server to describe Turkish coffee. She said in her strong Middle Eastern accent, "Well
it is strong and bitter
like life." So I ordered the mint lemonade. I can tell you personally that the mint lemonade was light and refreshing. And helped to make my meal very enjoyable. What kind of "drink" are you? When people meet you are they reminded of how hard life is? Or is your presence refreshing? What kind of "drink" do you want to be? Let it be our prayer that when we meet people our presence is refreshing and that the refreshment comes from the "Living Water". Jon Cicle |
