People in this troubled world, especially after 9-11, are so fearful
of the terror, perplexed by the things happening and so torn by the uncetainty
of tomorrow. People need the peace and assurance that only our God can
supply. The horrendous troubles of this world remind me of the significance
of the spiritual that says, "This world is not my home. I¹m
just a traveling through." I glad that there is something so much
better to look foward to. Heaven is our home if we will but choose it. And even now we can have peace and assurance and joy. Peace is can be
ours in spite of the troubles and fearful tragedies. We enjoy the confidence
of God¹s help and care when everything around us is falling apart.
Joy and gladness will overwhelm us with hope. What the world needs now,
what we need now is Jesus. Nothing else will do. The beauty of the precious offer is that Jesus has made the way clear
for us all. A place in God¹s kingdom is not dependent on our doing
or being anything to be saved. It is a free gift to us because Jesus has
paid the full cost by His death on the cross. No wonder the Apostle Paul says, "I have complete confidence in
the gospel; it is God¹s power to save all who believe . . . For the
Gospel reveals how God puts people right with Himself: it is through faith
from the beginning to end." Romans 1:16, 17. Notice it is God¹s
power that saves. It is He who makes people right when they exercise the
gift of faith to believe. John McIntosh (5/30/02) |
