Starting a New Year

[Current Devotional Thought]
[Devotional Archive]

At the start of a New Year it is a good time to take an inventory of our lives. The start of 2004 gives us an opportunity to make some needed changes. These changes may have an impact on our relationship with God, our relationship with others, and our relationship to ourselves. We may want to make changes in our time alone with God, our eating habits, our exercise behaviors, or our use of time. I have found the following article very helpful when it comes to change. May 2004 be a positive year as we work together here at PUC to advance God's kingdom.

ONE STEP

No matter how long you've been walking north, in just a single step you can be walking south. What does it take to turn your life around? Just one step.

You are one step away from eating a healthier diet, one step away from being a better parent, one step away from improving your finances, one step away from becoming more skilled in your work, one step away from a more fulfilling relationship.

One minute from now, your worst problems can be behind you, instead of in front of you. In a single step, your best day can be yet to come, rather than long ago in the past. In an instant, your negative energy can be redirected toward making a positive difference. Just one step can change your momentum and start you in whatever direction you truly want to go.

Make it a great day. Remember, your family and friends are the "Why" you do things in life. Remember someone in need over the next few days.

There is a reason why we are told in God's word. "As far as the east is from the west so far will I remove your transgrssions from you". If you go north far enough you will be going south. If you go south far enough you will be going north, but no matter how far you go east or west you will never be going the other direction.

Go ahead, take that step in the right direction and make it the best day ever. Remember, God Loves You, and wants the very best for you not only in this life but in the life to come.
