And if your right hand
causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose
one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell. --Matthew
5:30 On Saturday, April 26 Mountaineer Aron Ralston of Aspen, Colorado
was hiking alone in a beautiful Utah canyon when a boulder fell on him, pinning
his hand and wrist. By Tuesday he ran out of water. By Thursday he decided that
he would die unless he did the unthinkable. Using a pocket knife he cut
off his own arm below the elbow, rappelled down a rock wall, and hiked until he
ran into other people who flagged down a helicopter for him. Still in serious
condition a in a Colorado Hospital a week after the accident, he helps us realize
just how strong is our urge to live. Apparently Jesus wasnt completely
overstating his case. Helleternal separation from Godis something
to be avoided at almost any cost, and heaven is such a great reward that whatever
we give up to get there will be worth it. Is there someone you know who
has left behind something valuable to enter the Kingdom of God? --Tim
